In the US edition at least, a dodge must have the same "degree" of success (special if the attacker rolled a special, critical if the attacker rolled a critical) whereas a parry just requires a successful roll. Dodging does let you roll against each attack from the same source though. Not sure...

A fundamental problem of RPG damage is that in combat between humans, plate armor does not provide 8 points of ABS. It provides "haha, you cant hurt me" armor. A Gotland farmer in a coat of plates or brigandine can take sword hacks and jabs to the body all day long and not have lost a hit...

Pendragon threw out INT and I don't think it actually suffered at all. I might add UPPfattning. Breaking BRP compatibility for monsters makes the game MUCH less handy for GMs though.
