Och det var inte WotC. Surprise!

Cybergames började köpa rollspelsföretag under 2000:
"September 14, 2000 12:29 AM PDT
In California, Novato-based Cybergames.com has recently acquired Pinnacle Entertainment Group, Emperor's Choice and Obsidian Studios in addition to its June purchase of Hero Games."

http://www.gamers.com/news/317152

I början av 2001 köps PEG tillbaka:
"Cybergames.com announced today that its acquisition deal for Pinnacle Entertainment Group, entered into late last year, has been rescinded. Control of Pinnacle Entertainment Group has been returned to the majority shareholder of Pinnacle Entertainment Group, Shane Hensley."

"DOJ, Inc., a California corporation, is pleased to announce that effective December 19, 2001, it has acquired the assets of Hero Games and the right to do business using the name "Hero Games" from Cybergames.com."
http://www.herogames.com/news/2001/1221.jsp

"DOJ, Inc. announced that it has acquired the assets of Hero Games from Cybergames, Inc. DOJ is owned by Steven Long, formerly of Decipher, and Darren Watts. Long will serve as Hero System line developer. Watts will perform most of the administrative duties for the company, in addition to some writing and editing. The founders, former owners, and former employees of Hero, including Steve Peterson, George MacDonald, Ray Greer, and Bruce Harlick will not be associated with Hero in the future."

"During his investigation he suggested that Dallas may have been involved in some sort of Dungeons & Dragons game that had gone horribly wrong. This theory was widely reported in the press. In 1981 a movie called 'Mazes & Monsters', which bore a superficial resemblance to the case, debuted in cinemas.
...
Dallas Egbert, aged 16 years, disappeared from his dorm (Case Hall) at Michigan State University on the 15th August 1979, after having had lunch with one of his few friends Karen Coleman. Despite his age, his parents were not notified of his disappearance until the 20th of August. On the 22nd of August Mr. William Dear was called in
...
It is very unfortunate that Mr. Dear's comments were inaccurate.
...
He purchased rulebooks and paid a Dungeon Master to take him through a game. He also enlisted the aid of Mr. Cliff Perotti, a published gaming author and owner of a small gaming company, to help him in his investigations when Mr. Perotti offered his services."
