Armor made from the hide of a monster might very well be leather or (obviously) Hide armor. Scale isn't exactly out of the question, either. Those aren't particularly good forms of armor, but, remember, it's just a starting place.
The hide of small and tiny dragons is supple and much like the hide of a lizard or other mundane animal in thickness. It can be worked, fairly easily into leather suitable for leather armor. It takes 4 tiny or 2 small dragons to get enough hide to make a medium sized suit of leather armor. The armor is resistant to the type of breath weapon the dragon possessed, giving it's wearer the equivalent of Endure Elements vs. that type of damage.
Medium and Large Dragons have heavier hides, which can be used to create Hide armor for a creature one size-class smaller than them selves. This Hide armor has a Natural +1 Enhancement bonus that does not stack with magical enhancement and gives it's wearer the equivalent of Endure Elements vs. the type of damage done by it's breath weapon.
Huge and Larger dragons have hides too thick to be used as armor (though they could provide 'Hide' armor to a creature one size-class small than themselves, like an Ogre or Giant). However, the scales can be taken and attached to a backing to produce Scale armor and dragonscale-covered shields. The scales are incredibly tough (Hardness equal to the Dragon's natural armor bonus), but can only cover so much of the wearer, and the force of blows can be deadly, even with an impenetrable scale in the way. Scale Armor made this way has a natural enhancement bonus of +1 for a Huge Dragon, +2 for Gargantuan, and +3 for Colossal. In addition the armor gives it's wearer the equivalent of Resist Elements vs damage of the dragon's breath weapon type. Shields receive only a +1 Enhancement bonus, and give a bonus to reflex saves vs. the damage type of the dragon's breath weapon: +2 for bucklers and small shields, +4 for large. Dragonscales are non-metallic, but they can get rather thick. Scale Mail or shields made with Huge dragon scales are half the normal weight and have a -2 armor check penalty (that doesn't stack with the reduction for Masterwork), those made with Gigantic dragonscales are of normal weight, and those made from the scales of a Colossal dragon are so large that they actually make the item 5 lbs heavier and have an additional -1 Armor check penalty.
The enhancement bonuses of dragon-hide armors do not stack with any magical enhancement bonuses they may be given, and is a natural, non-magical enhancement bonus.
Optionally, if Sorcerers really do draw upon 'dragon blood' for their powers, dragon-hide armor may be more conducive to sorcererous power: reduce the Arcane Spell Failure percentage of these armors by 5 for Sorcerers.
