Midnight Sun Con (Fjällcon)
Preliminary date: Wednesday 23/7-Sunday 27/7
I planning to hold a small gaming convention in the mountains in Northern Sweden. Combining hiking with roleplaying games, freeform games, story games and larps. The convention will be in a 16 bed cabin in Björkliden in Lappland, Sweden.
There will be international participants as well as participants from Sweden. Hence, this post is in English so I don't have to write it twice.
The plan is to enjoy the midnight sun, hike, play and discuss games, eat well, sauna, admire the stunning nature.
The gaming/hiking balance will most likely be weather dependent. If there is a storm one day we will probably stay inside most of the day playing games. If the weather is fantastic we might hike for most of the day and be so exhausted when we get home that we just hang out in the evening, talk and perhaps just play some light games.
I'm keeping the convention small this year, just the 16 sports, for safety reasons and logistical reasons. But if it works out well I will consider making a larger convention in the mountains next year. (Perhaps renting an hostel.)
The cost will be about 400 SEK / 44 € / 61 USD.
Food is not included in the price. The plan for food is that we will get food from a local grocery store and cook together in the cabins kitchen, splitting the food cost.
As soon as I get a definitive answer of I can rent the cabin or not I'll set up an email address where the people that interested in going can sign up. If more than 16n people is interested in going I'll will prioritize an international participants, and then try to get a mix of people that don't already all know each other from and different parts of the gaming hobby. All participants should be ready to run or organize at leat one game during the convention.
More info to come when I get a definitive answer.
