Hi!

I am running a campaign with a big seafaring component. Some time ago I asked here how to handle naval combat and it was suggested to do it as a Conflict.

I wanted to ask again your opinion on the matter. Since the PCs are a pirate gang, I was thinking to divide the situation into two conflicts.

1) a Chase sort of conflict with Seamanship as a looked skill.
if the Chase conflict is won
2) a boarding /naval combat Conflict with Warfare as looked skill?

Would you do it like this? or compress it all in one single conflict?
In the case of the boarding /naval combat conflict, which looked skill would you choose?

Thx!

I would probably do one conflict: "can they catch their pray?". Let the players be the aggressor and pick a skill first the let the captain on the other ship roll for a skill too counter their roll. The the captain chose a skill and the players need to counter it, and lately the players pick the last skill.

Let the players explain how their skill helps them catch their pray.

Depending on how well the conflict goes the other ship could just give up or it will become a fight to the death. If it becomes the later use the full fighting system for the players against some skilled warriors from the other ship. And just described how the other sailors are fighting, if the players are doing well the let the sailors on their team fight as good and if it goes bad for the players so does it for their team.

This is how I would handle it.
