”Anatar, 2023, Italy, directed by "Alan Smithee"... yes, the director didn't want anything to do with the movie after its many production problems and having gone through a lot of script changes, as the original idea doesn't seem whacky, to begin with.
The title is a portmanteau between "anatra" (Italian for "duck") and "Avatar", obviously because this is a parody that depicts the alien race of the anatars as blue... ducks. Emperor Quack is hunting a new planet to conquer, and his chief commander Dark Feather (you could tell this is really subtle, also) finds Pandoro (yes, the italian sweet bread), extremely similar to planet Earth, in which civilisation hasn't surpassed middle ages (with people there also subduing Neanderthals as slaves). They agree to send Avia, the daughter of Quack, to Pandoro while transformed into a human to act as bait.
It quickly turns into a sappy romantic comedy with two goofy protagonists, the usual feeling-good messages of tolerance and harmony, and just adding all the premises regarding alien ducks quacking all the way, human weaklings almost going to war with them using just clubs and stones, and with an ending that breaks the fourth wall.
