Atlas Game sprängde crowdfund målet för att släppa Ars Magica 5th Edition STANDARD core rulebook text under Creative Commons license.

"Read the details on the Ars Magica Open License page. We hope to open up the entire line over the course of the campaign as "CC-BY-SA 4.0," and even some key sourcebooks from earlier editions. The license will allow anyone to remix, transform, and build upon the licensed material for any purpose, even commercially. "

Hela linjen??? 40+ böcker.

De skriver ytterligare så här:

"There's also a whole argument about copyright and RPG rules, and one point of this license is to just sidestep it. Go ahead and make a techniques/forms based magic system RPG of furry space wizards. We were not ever going to sue you, but now you can be sure that no future owners of the game could either."

"whole argument about copyright and RPG rules" är det vad jag tror det är? Hela biten med att spelregler inta kan skyddas? Har inte sett något nytt om det snacket internationellt.

John reveals his thinking on the open license in this interview I did with him:

Jag trodde inte att särskilt många spelade Ars Magica längre.
Men de kanske vill betala för att bara läsa. Såna köp har man ju gjort själv några gånger…

"We are absolutely blown away by the incredible response from the Ars Magica community," said John Nephew, co-owner of Atlas Games. "This open license empowers players and creators like never before, allowing them to freely share, adapt, and build upon the foundation of the game."

"If the entire Ars Magica line is unlocked by the campaign's close on November 14th at 8pm Central, then the Creative Commons content will include over 60 books, plus supplementary materials."

"For decades, Ars Magica has fostered a passionate and creative fan base," said Michelle Nephew, co-owner of Atlas Games and Co-Producer of the project. "This open license is a way to formally recognize that dedication and empower our community to take the game in exciting new directions."
