Hej alla. Jag har problem med spellen Detect Evil. Hur hanterar ni den? Jag pastar in postningen jag gjorde i samma ämne till WoTCs forum:
With studies in moral filosophy behind me, I of course have a general problem with alignment in RPGs. OK, I understand a demon might be evil, but I don´t understand how humans can be it. Anyway, never mind that, my question here is about a spell. I do not understand Detect Evil.
Example 1: The PCs visits a village. Someone is murdered (or similar villany is committed). The party cleric switch on Detect Evil and walks around the village until he spots a badguy (or where he is hiding, as the spell penerates barriers, at least to some extent.)
Example 2: The ruler of a city is a powerful paladin. What keeps him and his cleric friends from having "purges" in the shady parts of town to find every single evil person?
Not every evil person has magic to cover his alignment. For example, how can any thiefs guild operate at all when Detect Evil is a 1st level cleric spell?
An old house rule we used back in 2nd ed was that the spell regonized evil intent, not evil aligment. In that way a evil person could sit in a bar without being Detected, but he could not walk inside the kings castle planing assassination. What do you think of this?
