The Illuminati and the all-seeing pyramid
In 1776, a man named Adam Weishaupt (born 1748 in Ingolstadt in Bavaria) founded a secret society named ’The Perfectibilists’, which was soon renamed the ’Illuminati’. The official founding date was May 1, which has caused some conspiracy theorists to believe there is a collaboration with the Soviet celebration of May Day. They choose as their symbol the all-seeing pyramid, the image of an eye superimposed over the top of a pyramid, symbolizing enlightenment, but also their control and power structure.
The name Illuminati means the enlightened, and Weishaupt described the purpose of the organization to be ”to perfect and ennoble mankind”. Weishaupt believed that man should solve problems through the use of his own mind and reason, rather than relying on the laws of god or nation. He believed in control by information (and disinformation), coordination and manipulation. These views did not make him popular with the church and the state, but he soon gained strong support from the scientific world.
These were the goals and opinions that Weishaupt discussed in public, but his real goals were quite different. The real goals were only known by himself and the central core of the Illuminati, the twelve Aeropagites, or disciples, which formed the ruling group.
Weishaupt’s vision was nothing less than total world domination, under him and the Illuminati. The way to do this was to have a small group of enlightened indivuduals in key positions, who then in turn controlled other people who were not aware of the conspiracy or their part in it. By sitting in the middle of the web as an unknown shadow figure, pulling the right strings slightly at the right time, he thought it possible to rule the world without the world knowing it. Of course, this would require playing existing factions agains each other, in war, economy, science, religion and politics, making sure no one get to strong to be controlled. This strategy by necessity required not only one side of a conflict to be infiltrated. To successfully play the factions against each other, all major factions must be infiltrated. The masterminds at the core of the conspiracy would never play an active part that would require them to leave the haven of their anonymity.
This may look as an impossible task, but look closely at history, and you will find that most wars, revolutions, changes in government and philosofies has been started by small, catalytic events, events that could easily have been arranged. It is a task not unlike cutting a diamond. You study the diamond closely, examines it until you know exactly how the crystal planes lie, where the cracks are and where you want the cut to be. When you know everything you need, just place the chisel at the right point, give it a very light blow, and watch the diamond split as you desire. The shots in Sarajevo is a good example of such a key event, where a single assassination started the first world war.
The Illuminati was a very closed society, and one could not just apply for membership (even if you knew they existed, which you didn’t). Weishaupt and the members of the inner circle selected candidates, checked them, trained them and put them up for election without their knowledge. Candidates could be tested for years before being introduced in the society, and ony when the Illuminati were sure they were ready to accept blind obedience. They were initiated through secret ceremonies, and were assigned secret codenames.
To ensure the secrecy, they used extensive signs, grips, passwords and drastic oaths of secrecy, much like the Freemasons (which they later clashed with).
In the beginning, the Illuminati found most of it’s recruits in Ingolstadt University, but within a couple of years they started to recruit members in Münich. Here, in 1777, they also infiltrated the Freemasons, trying to subvert them into becoming a controlled sub-group of the Illuminati power web. A few years later, they extended their recruiting drive to northern Germany, were Baron von Knigge as recruited. von Knigge was Weishaupts superior in organisation, agitation and recruitment, and recruited members from the highest levels of society, including nobility, princes and even the upper clergy.
The Illuminati grew in influence, and Weishaupt became more clear about his intentions to be the supreme leader of the Illuminati. This caused a fall out between him and von Knigge, causing von Knigge to resign in 1784, which caused many senior members to follow. This was partly by a stronger response from the crown, which was soon followed by denunciations from the church. This was soon followed by a blanket warning from the state against secret societies.
Things went from bad to worse for Weishaupt. The government scented the spirit of revolution in the air, and feared that secret societies were the breeding ground of subversion and treason. Eventually the Bavarian authorities outlawed all secret societies. The church shared this view of the Illuminati and other secret societies as threats.
The beginning of the end came in 1785, when a priest named Cosandry, an admitted member of the Illuminati, was ordered by his bishop to tell everything he knew about the group. This confession caused Pope Pius VII to issue a bill condemning all secret society, with the Illuminati and the Freemasons taking the major blame.
The Illuminati resisted and increased their efforts to keep the secrecy. This was only partly successful, as the authorities raided houses of suspected members and confiscated documents and propaganda. Torture was an accepted and widely used practice to interrogate suspects, and in 1787, a new decree made recruiting members for the Illuminati a crime punishable by beheading. Accepting membership was a crime punishable by exile and expropriation of all possessions.
Dispite all this, the Illuminati managed to survive in the shadows.
In 1799, a new period of tolerance began. Although the ban on secret societies still remained, all exiles except Weishaupt himself were allowed to return to Bavaria and several ex-Illuminati came to hold positions in the government. Despite this, the society seemed to fade away.
Adam Weishaupt died in 1830.
In 1896, the Illuminati was revived in Dresden. Several powerful men has been great believers of the philosofies of the Illuminati, including Thomas Jefferson. There are rumours that an american chapter of the Illuminati was formed in Virginia in 1786, followed by 14 others in the early USA.
Illuminati never regained any importance on the world stage.
On the other hand, why is their symbol on the back of the dollar bills? Why are seemingly meaningless wars fought? Why does the world economy seem to have a mind on its own? Why are some countries led by people who don’t seem to have any support whatsoever? Why did the Soviet union, one of the strongest countries in the world, suddenly fall apart? Is it really the government that rules? Was prohibition a way to establish a power base through organized crime? Who benefits from government bureaucracy? Are computers really inactive when they are turned off, or are they secretly monitoring you? Why are internet communications so easy to tap? Is the X-files just a way to make it all look like fiction? Was Elvis death staged by the Illuminati?
Is world history just a series of coincidences, or is it an elaborate conspiracy of wheels within wheels, layers within layers, truths within truths and lies within lies? Can you be too paranoid?
Have a nice day…
