I'm running a conspiracy scifi/horror game right now. It's set in a very expanded version of the Aliens universe. The PCs were abducted by aliens and transported back in time then given over to the authorities of a human galactic empire on the other side of the galaxy.
Now the PCs do not know of the time travel deal, and as far as they are concerned, the aliens that did it (not the Aliens-aliens btw) are good guys. Now the've visited Earth again, and it's the middle ages, so clearly something is wrong.
Tha back story is that these aliens expanded quickly throughout the universe encountering humans several thousand years ago, and they and some other races were transported back to the aliens world to be used in menial labour. Thay also encountered an expansionist warlike race and were eventually beaten back. Alien settlements were abandonded and the humans now believe they originate from these settlements.
When the humans developed space flight they encountered these aliens and attacked them when the aliens wanted nothing to do with them. Eventually the aliens discovered time travel and turned the tide of the war swiftly.
Now they have set up a temporal barrier and basically moved themselves into a static future.
A specialist psionic force was developped by the humans during the war and later scrapped by the government when peace agreements were signed. They are now the only ones that suspect the aliens are up to something.
Enter the confused PCs.
