Med ledning av input härifrån och annorstädes har jag fått ihop följande kortare beskrivning. Expertis och fördel/nackdel är ännu inte med, och jag tänker testa att lägga anvisningar om hur slag ska användas och tolkas separat: The players and the referee use die rolls to determine the outcome of uncertain situations. In general, die rolls use either an attribute die or both an attribute die and a skill die to determine the result; in either case, each die is counted separately, never added.
When only an attribute die is used, this is called an attribute test. This is used to create a simple, binary success/failure result – if the roll is 4 or above, the character succeeds, and if the roll is 3 or less, the character fails.
When you need a more nuanced result, use a skill test. In this case, roll both an attribute die and a skill die in a suitable combination. If both dice roll 4 or above, you get a full success. If only one rolls 4 or above, you get a partial success. If both dice roll 3 or less, the attempt is a failure.
When you have a situation where the outcome of a skill test should be dependent on the ability of a person who is targetted by the test, make a resisted test. The active party rolls an attribute die and a skill die; the passive party rolls an attribute die. If both the dice of the active party exceed the roll of the passive party, the active party succeeds fully. If only one exceeds the roll of the passive party, the active party succeeds partially. If none exceed the roll of the passive party, the active party fails.
A conflict is a consequence of two people actively working against each other. Both roll a skill die and an attribute die. If one side gets two dice that are higher than the opponent’s highest die, they achieve a full success. If only one die is higher than the opponent’s highest die, the side with the highest die receives a partial success. Likewise, if the highest dice are equal, the person whose low die is the highest gets a partial success. If the dice are the same, the result is a draw.
