<font size="4"> The Beast Within </font size>
This is a modern setting game where the players are playing the part of young people who strive with the pains of growing up, being surrounded by adults who are treating them badly; their teacher, a violent father, the nervous mother, slimy uncle, vicious aunt, lecherous priest, etc.
Some adults are positive too, and may be contacted later in the game, when the problems really mount for the youngsters. But none of these wise adults are present in the immediate society of the youngsters.
Destiny have placed these teenagers in the embraze of false grown ups. It may be a border school, a religious sect, a new age collective or an isolated town. They may also be isolated from the rest of society by social stigma, adhering to their race, their belief or their origin. The point is that the initial stages of the game will leave the youngsters to fend for themselves, and to be quite helpless against the violent blows they are given.
To forestall some of the suffering, and/or to vent their frustration, the youngsters turn to eachother, creating a Secret Society of Hate. This society is a gathering where they scream out their rage and hate and anguish towards all betraying adults!
The problem is that their secret practise make these youngster into something far more powerful than the awerage teenager. It awakens the beast within them. They start to transform into dragons!
It will be small signs at first; an aura of danger, some undefined tone to their voice that gets on the nerves of adults around them, elevation in status amongst the classmates. It is all cool, of course connected to the Society, and a reason for the youngsters to rejoice when they gather in it.
The first signs will be followed by more grave signs, signs that may indicate that something is amiss. The youngsters will experience uncontrollable bursts of anger, a thirst for conflict and violence, and really frightening occations of spontaneous ignitions, mostly coupled to emotions and crisis in their personal life. There will be little wisdom for them to find, other than the kind of advice or references the players actually find in the local library or bookshelves of their parents.
The game is about how the youngsters grow in destructive powers, and how they strive to control them. In the end each of the youngsters will have a fully awakened dragon within them!
If they have not learnt to deal with the beast within before this happens, they will be at it's mercy, rampaging around the world, spreading their destruction, targeted by all weapons awailable to mankind.
If they have learnt to deal with the beast within, they will have to decide how to use it. If they use it, it is very likely that they will be perceived as a great threath and hunted by all kinds, from well armed militaries to crazy devil worshippers.
However good or bad the youngsters have learnt to deal with their inner beast, it is in the final battle it will all be tested. One by one adults of their childhood will reveal themselves to be minions of a dragon. These are minions of great powers of course, and they will try to enslave the youngsters in various ways, to make them too minions of The Great One.
And it is in the confrontation with The Great Dragon itself, the power behind the scene, the evil in the machine... it is in the confrontation with this "consciousness obscene" that the game reach it's conclusion. What will it offer them, and how will they react? Are they ready to fight it? Will they have the courage to sacrifice their lives? Or will they try to fling The Great One down, and sit on the throne themselves?
Where are you
and where have you been?
My beast, my beautiful sin,
my beast within!
