Eon Where in the world to start with players who know nothing?

Cheers folks. So I am kicking around doing some Eon with my American group but the big question I run into is: Where in the world to set the game? Eon is a big "culture game" so there's a ton of setting and information, but they won't be able to read any of it of course, so they will have to...

    DoD & Co. - Skvalkanalen

Appreciate the thoughts and suggestions. I did like the HT approach though we did end up finding we were maxing out the main skills fairly quickly. But you can always tone it down slightly if needed. We never had people swapping weapons just to get a check. Maybe nobody thought of it :) I've...

    DoD & Co. - Skvalkanalen

While we're talking, something that has always bothered me: In Expert, 91 and Chronopia, experience is a points system. As you use your skills or train, you get experience and when you have enough you can buy up the skill. Cool, I like that. Two things: A: Experience is awarded for one...

Vilka svenska rollspel är översätta till andra språk än engelska?

I had a thread a bit ago about the Danish version of DoD specifically. https://www.rollspel.nu/threads/dod-books-in-danish-an-overview-retrospective.77745/

    DoD & Co. - Skvalkanalen

Somewhat tangential, I think that gets overlooked a bit I think is that Drakar was pretty unique among BRP games in having characters die at minus FYS. In most versions you die at 0. This makes it much less likely for a character to be killed in a single hit which I generally prefer.

    Pendragon?

I suspect the problem here isn't the game rule so much as Lancelots stats being completely bananas.

    DoD & Co. - Skvalkanalen

Was it ever explained why? At a first glance, it looks like it fits more in the more D&D-influenced vibe of 91 but I'm just guessing there. We never had an issue with prices in Expert, that I remember.

    DoD & Co. - Skvalkanalen

Its worth noting that the prices for things in 91 are way out of whack with the Expert-era prices. Weapon and armor costs in the multiple thousands of coins.

One of my American friends pointed out that the fact that Skiing and skating are separate skills is how you could tell the game was written by Scandinavians :)

    Pendragon?

I'll admit, while we pieced our way through the rulebook battle system a few times and it was fine, we were just as happy when I just GMed it normally like i would have in any other system. The options in the book are mostly a dice rolling exercise while the Book of Battle is an entirely new...

1001 rpgs you must play before you die

#34 Wushu Because sometimes it's fun to say that you jump through the window, grab a ninja by the leg as you descend and then proceed to beat his lousy ninja friends to death with his corpse (3 dice)

Saga rules. Questions if you don't mind

Interesting. I would 100% have expected it to be a BRP derivative.

Saga rules. Questions if you don't mind

As usual, feel free to respond in Swedish or English as you prefer. I hope some folks are around to see this :) So I have been reading the rulebook and really liking it. It feels a lot like a post-BRP game. I do have some questions, particularly around skill values: It seems that a lot of the...

    Många svenska fantasyrollspel

Ensamma Vargen is definitely a legit RPG and still for sale. I got my copy earlier this year direct from the publisher. It's a translation / adaptation of the older Mongoose Lone Wolf game, but with brand new art.

    "Ping-pong" in DoD. Over-stated as a problem.

That and being able to just put everything into offense when your enemy was stunned for a turn was awfully satisfying :)

    Pendragon?

We did not do full sheets for spouses or squires, but you can. I just had people keep a separate page with the couple of skills that were relevant for the character. For most, it only ever ends up being 2-3 skills. I did want to do adventures specifically for the wives but didn't get a chance...
